My Story

The Story
Began in 1995...

...and It's Still Being Written.

In 1995, a fifth-grade classroom assignment unexpectedly became the first chapter of a story that is still unfolding today.

What began as a handmade children's book eventually grew into the ABC's Series and Karla Bouchar Books, LLC.

    School Assignment

A fifth grader writes a rhyming alphabet book for a classroom assignment.

  2. Writing Award

The book, ABC's of Warm Weather, received a prestigious writing award. Afterward, my mom encouraged me to publish it — reminding me that my little book deserved to be shared with other children. I wasn't ready then, but her encouragement stayed with me for years, and eventually led me back to the story that started it all.

  3. Life Happens

College, career, and life take center stage. The little spiral-bound book is tucked away, but never forgotten.

  4. A Children's Book Rekindles the Idea

A colleague publishes a children's book. Suddenly, that little book doesn't seem impossible anymore.

  5. Today

    ABC's Series

She dusts it off, reimagines it, and one book becomes four — celebrating every season. One little classroom assignment has grown into a lifetime of adventures that are just beginning.

Illustrated portrait of Karla Bouchar

When I was ten years old, I never imagined a simple classroom assignment would one day become the beginning of a children's book series.

Life has a wonderful way of bringing us back to the things that matter most.

I'm incredibly grateful that you're here, and I hope these books become part of your family's memories for years to come.

Whether you're reading together at bedtime, exploring the seasons in a classroom, or sharing stories on a cozy afternoon, thank you for inviting my stories into your home and into your family's memories.

I can't wait to share many more adventures with you.

With gratitude,

Karla
